A cross-check happens in chess when a player gets out of check and delivers a check to the opponent simultaneously. Cross-checks usually occur when a piece blocks a check and attacks the opponent’s king at the same time or reveals a discovered check.
The type of checks is a Tattersall check pattern. Put very simply, Tattersall refers to a check pattern created by combining a horizontal stripe with thin, even vertical stripes. The result is an attractive square pattern. A Tattersall check often consists of different coloured lines on a lighter background. Tattersal check pattern has it’s origin in London.
