Description
Fabric:
The fabric is pure double spin raw silk and yarn dyed. The warp and weft are both raw silk. The drape is rich and glamorous.
Printing:
Block printed by hand. A combination of blocks have been used across the saree. The body of the saree has a geometric blocks. The border has traditional blocks inspired by Bengali Rangoli, called ‘Alpana’ patterns. The pallav of the saree has a combination of ‘Alpana’ and geometric blocks.
This saree (and in fact this entire collection) with its rich earth tones and whimsical patterns evokes images of painted mud huts in villages across India. It is a graceful and artistic drape and a beloved addition to my wardrobe.
