Inspiration
The shaada shari laal par (white saree with red border) re created with a modern mood. The block prints are inspired by Alpana (rangoli) done in Bengali homes to decorate the floors and stairways on special occasions. Kulo means a bamboo rice cleaner used in the rural areas now mostly. The blocks on the body are of the same. Traditionally a white saree with red border is worn on the last day of the Durga puja called Dashami.
It is a tradition dear to everyone who likes to dress up for ‘Dashamir Shaaj’ (Dressed for the occasion).

Block printed by hand. A combination of blocks have been used across the saree. The body of the saree has a geometric blocks. The border has traditional blocks inspired by Bengali Rangoli, called ‘Alpana’ patterns. The pallav of the saree has a combination of ‘Alpana’ and geometric blocks.
