Inspiration
The park opposite had a Shiuli tree by the shiv temple. When it bloomed in October, a side of the temple was covered with a carpet of Shiuli flower. We gathered what we could in in the folds of our frocks, made garlands and crowns. But, by the time our jewels were done, the flowers had withered The fresh fragrance lingered in our palms and clothes.
The floral motifs are of the Shiuli /Parijat/Night flowering coral Jasmine flower. It is one of the 8 divine flowers, favorite of the Hindu Gods. According to Hindu mythology, this tree came out as a result of churning of the ocean by the Gods and Demons. So it is believed the flower is rooted in heaven.
The flower is tiny with four to five delicate white petals with a coral orange stem and center.

Description
Fabric:
The prints bloom in an altogether artistic appeal on the pure organic cotton (100% cotton), grown in India. Organic cotton is regular cotton that is grown organically without the use of any synthetic agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers or pesticides aside from the ones allowed by the certified organic labeling. The drape is light and comfortable. This cotton hugs you softly. It might benefit from starching after 4-5 wears but starching is not necessary at all.
Printing:
The motifs are screen printed on the fabric. Screen printing is a method in which ink is applied directly to the surface to be printed (substrate). The image to be printed is photographically transferred to a very fine fabric (the screen) such that the non-printing areas are blocked off and the fabric serves as a stencil. The ink is wiped across the screen to pass through the unblocked pores and reach the substrate. For each color to be printed a separate screen is prepared and the process is repeated. It is tedious and painstakingly done by hand.
I love sarees. I own quite a few from Olee. This one is a soft organic cotton with pretty and delicate motifs of the flower. I find Olee saree easy to manage and they are different in style and feel.
I got this saree for Pujo and I guess the design of small white shiuli phool embedded in warm tones of yellow and red was a beautiful reflection on what this season and festival had to offer! Needless to say, your fabric is super soft and comfortable. Absolutely love it
